Review of Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) by Tristan P — 05 Apr 2011
Not the absolute best film from Disney. But still a pretty good effort. If anything, it is very experimental in content. Michael J. Fox is endearing as the lead character. There are some exciting action sequences and the Crystal Chamber sequence is very eerie and powerful.
I live in Oregon and one of the guys who was involved in this film was Oregon native Mike Mignola (of "Hellboy" fame). There are some inconsistancies here and there (like how is it that the Mole character starts out as a pompus professor-type character and then become the film's Donald Duck?), but since this film was a bold attempt by Disney, I'm willing to overlook its faults.
All in all, a pretty good popcorn flick.
