Review of ATL (2006) by Lajayva — 01 Jan 2011
Sure this movie was just a vehicle to put TI (aka Tip Harris) on the screen and give fellow rapper Big Boi (aka Antwan Patton) a little visibility too but screenwriter Antwone Fisher actually delivers a better movie than the formula might have predicted.
The end result is kind of like "Saturday Night Fever" meets "Boyz n the Hood" with a little roller skating thrown in to help the soundtrack. "ATL" is really about a group of friends trying to get more out of life than the average person in their neighborhood and about what happens if you're successful making something of yourself.
Not bad. 7/18/9.
