Review of At First Sight (1999) by Jeran S — 23 May 2007
This movie took me TOTALLY by surprise. I was expecting romantic comedy. It's not. It's drama. Wonderful and smart with depth and insight. This is not the old cheesy I'm in love with a blind person.
.such as Ice Castles or Butterflies are Free - this went deeper. Brought me to tears. Great performances by Kilmer and Sorvino and McGillis. There were just a few scenes that were a little out of character with the rest of the movie (I thought) .
.so for awhile I felt it a little unbalanced or sure of where it was going - but overall and for the most part a truly wonderful movie that I'd recommend to all. PS - based on an actual couple - a true story.
