Review of At Close Range (1986) by Danny S — 07 Oct 2007
Penn is terrific in a role of emotional complexity, while Walken, king of the creeps, is positively frightening as this soft-spoken but highly lethal patriarch.
One of the most underrated thrillers of it's time.
Brittle and rough; full of excellent performances, too.
"a dark jewel of a drama, with first-rate performances".
