Review of At Any Price (2012) by Matthew F. J — 17 May 2013
This is a really unusual, interesting, out of the box kind of fil. Quaid is very good as a farmer on the edge of losing everything. Efron is convincing enough as the hot blooded, race car passionate son & every supporting characters are just nailing it.
Congratulation to Kim Dickens who plays a very 'got it together' type of mom, even though her part is somehow small, she holds the whole family together accepting her fate with dignity... This is a film that says a lot of things, mixes a bunch of themes, but somehow manages to keep you entertained & intigued till the end.
a lot of people will see in this film just another red neck slice of harvest life, but I can assure you, it isn't ... give it a shot , keep in mind it's not a hollywood film, allow yourself to be surprised.
