It's like a video game.

The world has evolved and robots are responsible for most jobs and minor functions. This is due to one scientist that has taken the evolution of technology to the next level. During one of the scientist's experiments his son is accidentally killed. The scientist uses his technological to bring his son back to life, in a way. The new form of the scientist's son only depresses him more about his son's death and he sends him away. The robotic son struggles to understand his new meaning in life.

"I have machine guns that come out of my butt?".

David Bowers, director of Flushed Away and the upcoming Diary of a Wimpy Kid, delivers Astro Boy. The storyline for this cartoon is okay and contains more depth than you may anticipate for this genre. The artwork is stellar, the script is mediocre, and the characters are relatively interesting. The voices are well selected and include Nicolas Cage, Charlize Theron, Freddie Highmore, Eugene Levy, Donald Sutherland, Bill Nighy, and David Alan Grier.

"More bang for your buck.".

My daughter and I were looking for a worthwhile show to watch together (she's 22 months old) and decided this could hold both of our attentions. I will say this was entertaining and worth following. This was not as good as similar films with identical storylines (Paprika comes to mind) and probably on par with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I do recommend seeing this but it may not be worth purchasing unless your children love this movies for some reason.

"Just another machine with a mind of his own.".

Grade: C+.
