Review of Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) by Keith T — 01 Dec 2008
This is a much better LOOKING version of the film. The John Carpenter 70s original really shows its low budget in its grainy print quality. However, the plot changes to make the assaillants renegade policemen, rather than an unknown gang didn't quite work for me, and I thought some of the tension of the older film had been lost during the additional 20 minutes running time.
It probably didn't help that the presence of Drea de Matteo meant my brain kept thinking "What is Joey's sister doing there?" either. I kept expecting Matt le Blanc to jump through a window and save everyone!
