Review of Assassin's Creed (2016) by Iris B — 21 Jan 2017
For a story that has a ton of background that it needs to be fed to you in a short amount of time, they did a good job of making all that complicated back story come to life. Every video game/comic book origin movie suffers from the same problem; you just CAN'T fit it all in.
It also came with some welcome changes. Even though the animus wasn't true to how it is depicted in the games, I thought it was a nice futuristic upgrade. The main character was a new one. And instead of having him nonchalantly accept this grossly odd set of circumstances like a lot of movies tend to do, he was pleasantly skeptical and creeped out by what was happening, right a long with the audience.
I think the actor did a fantastic job with playing this part of his character. I hope they do make a sequel; because now they can feed more original story into it and slowly keep adding small bits from the original story arc of the games.
