Review of Assassin's Creed (2016) by Kieran C — 28 Mar 2017
So I can't say my hopes were that high for Assassin's Creed, but even I was left disappointed and with a bitter taste in my mouth. There was not enough time spent in Spain, where we didn't get to explore as much as pre-release materials and trailers let us believe. What we got to see from the past however, was some good choreographed fight scenes and parkour that almost got me excited before being thrust into the boring, modern day segments which took up an underwhelming majority of the film.
Even the usually talented A-list cast couldn't save it. Fassbender gives good performance after good performance, but with Assassin's Creed, I've not seen acting this bad since Nicholas Cage in The Wicker Man. Even Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons seemed to be phoning it in.
Give this one a miss.
