Thrilling action sequences are hammered down by a ludicrous plot and too much time spent in the present world in Assassin's Creed. Having been a huge fan of the games, I thoroughly enjoyed the sequences that took place during the Spanish inquisition, unfortunately too much of the film is spent trying to explain it all to those that do not know the background.
