Review of Assassin's Creed (2016) by Eddie K — 15 May 2017
Funny seeing all the long winded disparaging reviews of this film from wanna be movie "critics", and the things they've chosen to pick out and pull apart. It's a movie based on a video game series, and having played all but the most recent titles I appreciate what was done in this film.
The hours and hours spent playing, I'm fully aware of the immense amount of material and story lines that exist. Whether you're in the past, or playing the present character Desmond, the task of trimming all that down to a single movie, or a well told trilogy would be difficult.
I enjoyed this interpretation a lot and hope they follow up with a sequel and even more so a full trilogy. The cast is great, which to me and contrary to theater seat hecklers, is a testament to the story being told and quality of the script.
I've always wanted to see this game series on the big screen and I think this is a pretty solid start. If you've played the games, I'd wager against the dismal reviews you'll enjoy this movie as I did.
