Review of Assassin's Creed (2016) by Patrick94 — 05 May 2017
Nowhere near as good as Warcraft when it comes to videogame adaptations. But still not as bad as some people make it out to be. The film's biggest flaw is that you don't get emotionally attached to a single character in it.
I honestly didn't care if anyone in the movie died. So much of the movie is spent wasted on the wrong things. Instead of building a solid story and getting you to like a few of the characters, it's mostly just action set-piece after action set-piece with little to no explanation or build-up.
Why does Hollywood not just follow the building blocks set out by the stories in the actual games? The reason so many of these games are so popular is because of their stories and the way they are set out.
Not because of the repetitive action sequences in them. The sooner the film industry understands that, the sooner videogame adaptations will make a killing at the box office.
