Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Josh Bell (1,421) for Las Vegas Weekly (1,340) on 20 Dec 2016

The cast members probably deserve some kind of special Oscar for their straight-faced delivery of such ludicrous dialogue…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Tim Grierson (1,482) for Screen International (2,241) on 19 Dec 2016

Assassin’s Creed is nearly wall-to-wall violence, but Kurzel reveals an eye for widescreen composition that, paired with Christopher Tellefsen’s…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Edward Douglas (1,395) for New York Daily News (5,623) on 19 Dec 2016

The acting offers little relief. Fassbender gives a super serious performance in a movie that needed his natural sense of humor…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Lindsey Bahr (430) for Associated Press (1,685) on 19 Dec 2016

In the end, the real mystery has little to do with the Assassins, the Templars or the Apple of Eden and more to do with why so many talented…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Matt Prigge (853) for Metro (930) on 19 Dec 2016

There's a lot to snicker at in Assassin's Creed, though maybe - to tinker with a quote from Ghost World's Enid Coleslaw - it's so bad it goes…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Lucy O'brien (16) for IGN Movies (1,472) on 19 Dec 2016

Though it's bolstered by some glorious action sequences and a stellar cast that really gives us their all, the lack of any levity whatsoever…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Clarisse Loughrey (259) for Independent (UK) (2,026) on 19 Dec 2016

Assassin's Creed has probably done the very best it can with the hand it's been dealt with and, really, this might be the best video game adaptation…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Robbie Collin (1,612) for Daily Telegraph (UK) (2,495) on 19 Dec 2016

Assassin’s Creed is leaps and bounds ahead of kitchen-sink-hurling flapdoodle like X-Men Apocalypse – it’s only the second-worst Fassbender…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Adi Robertson (27) for The Verge (432) on 19 Dec 2016

Assassin’s Creed’s creators have the courage to always take themselves seriously, even when they’re working with material that sounds…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Peter Bradshaw (3,667) for Guardian (4,584) on 19 Dec 2016

It’s rare to see a film quite so lacking in animus. It exists only to gouge money out of gamers. They might well want to stick to the game…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Harry Windsor (30) for Hollywood Reporter (2,966) on 19 Dec 2016

Assassin’s Creed is resolutely stone-faced, ditching the humdrum quips that are par for the course in today's blockbusters…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Jordan Raup (239) for The Film Stage (3,162) on 19 Dec 2016

Assassin’s Creed bears a jumbled narrative and self-serious approach that ends up feeling far too assaultive on the senses without any genuine…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Scott Mendelson (400) for Forbes (586) on 19 Dec 2016

It's the Anakin Skywalker of video game movies, a promising project meant to redeem a bedeviled sub-genre that merely leaves it covered in…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Kenji Fujishima (277) for The Playlist (3,871) on 19 Dec 2016

It’s all window-dressing for an ending that reveals this alternately goofy and self-serious big-budget Hollywood product to be little more…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Perri Nemiroff (375) for Collider (1,032) on 19 Dec 2016

All the riveting roof-top running and hand-to-hand combat in the world won't make a movie worthwhile if you don't give a damn about the characters…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Matt Singer (625) for ScreenCrush (954) on 19 Dec 2016

Assassin’s Creed makes you actively work for its pleasures, and it’s heartening to see a film of this scale that’s strange and ambitious…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By David Ehrlich (1,229) for indieWire (3,631) on 19 Dec 2016

Declaring Assassin’s Creed to be the best video game movie ever made is the kind of backhanded compliment that sounds like hyperbole, but…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By James Mottram (656) for Total Film (3,532) on 19 Dec 2016

Valiant, but flawed. Some of the set-pieces are superb, but there isn’t enough meat on the bones to turn this into a classic…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Jesse Hassenger (800) for The A.V. Club (5,644) on 19 Dec 2016

The movie is at least interestingly confusing until about the halfway mark, when monotony sets in for good…

Review of Assassin's Creed (2016)

By Owen Gleiberman (3,271) for Variety (12,700) on 19 Dec 2016

In Assassin’s Creed, Michael Fassbender is like the ultimate special effect…
