Review of Assassin(s) (1997) by Ken D — 25 Jan 2010
"Assassins" is a great game of cat and mouse. I've never really thought of Antonio Banderas as a bad guy but his emotions are incredible in this movie and he makes an awesome villain. I had an awful feeling that it was going to get cheesy.
It avoided it for a while, but then the inevitable happened when he poured his heart out... Sylvester Stallone is just too B.A. to have any romance beyond Ă¢??Rocky and AdrianĂ¢?? to be believable. The final 40 minutes of this movie are non-stop intensity.
Bandaras is amazing as his frustration (and sweat) build to an incredible finish. I had this feeling that there had to be a huge twist in the last 5 minutes but I never saw it coming - well done, Assassins.
