Review of Assassins... (1992) by Ken D — 25 Jan 2010
"Assassins" is a great game of cat and mouse. I've never really thought of Antonio Banderas as a bad guy but his emotions are incredible in this movie and he makes an awesome villain. I had an awful feeling that it was going to get cheesy.
It avoided it for a while, but then the inevitable happened when he poured his heart out... Sylvester Stallone is just too B.A. to have any romance beyond â??Rocky and Adrianâ?? to be believable. The final 40 minutes of this movie are non-stop intensity.
Bandaras is amazing as his frustration (and sweat) build to an incredible finish. I had this feeling that there had to be a huge twist in the last 5 minutes but I never saw it coming - well done, Assassins.
