Review of Assassination of a High School President (2008) by Paul T — 18 Oct 2009
An enjoyable film with a tad too much intrusive music, Assassination of a High School President's main attractions are its noir-comedy style and its genuinely likable protagonist, Bobby Funke. He writes for the paper.
He introduces himself with these words as though they ought to have the same impact as, ?I?m an agent with the FBI.? Though neither the plot's core mystery nor the momentum of the story ever captivates, the cast, editing, and atmosphere all consistently adhere to the motif of the incongruity of a serious crime investigation being undertaken by a young nerd among annoyingly vacuous youths in a typical venue for showcasing and lampooning white, upper-class carelessness & superficiality--a high school for privileged kids.
This film is humorous and a good one-time use of 88 minutes.
