Review of Assassination of a High School President (2008) by Maximilian M — 31 Mar 2011
There was so much dialog and plot development that this could have been a decent movie. The pacing killed it. Along with a host of other issues, including the dialog. The movie tried to be too smart and then gave itself away by being dumb in too many places.
Perhaps the major killer *spoiler* was the point at which they tried to explain the difficulty with SATs.
"Do you know what mastication means?",.
"No.",.
"Neither do I...".
...and then you want me to buy the rest of the film's complex thought process when they can't even 'chew' through that meaning.
This would have been a better movie if this had been set at a university, but then the whole SAT plot-line would have had to change. But really, that shouldn't have been much to 'crunch' through.
