Review of Assassination (2015) by Jason K — 11 Mar 2016
A smart rabbit digs three holes.
It is 1933 and Korea has been invaded by the Japanese military. A resistance forms and plans guerilla warfare tactics to keep the Japanese distracted until they can kill the Japanese commander which hopefully causes the Japanese to retreat to their home country. The resistance doesn't know a wanted man by the Japanese is in their ranks and threatens to sabotage their entire plan.
"Why don't you trust me?".
"What? I was almost killed myself!".
Dong-hoon Choi, director of Woochi, The Thieves, Tazza: The High Rollers, and The Big Swindle, delivers Assassination. The storyline for this picture is just okay with some great shootouts and special effects. The characters were moderately entertaining but the plot was worth following. The acting was above average.
"Don't sit like that! You're about to get married.".
This was recently added to Netflix so I decided to give it a shot. This was above average and I enjoyed watching this film unfold. This wasn't "special" or a classic per se, but it is worth watching once for fans of foreign films.
"Over 27 days, 3, 469 people were killed.".
Grade: C+.
