Review of Ashes and Diamonds (1958) by Mattias E — 20 Jul 2008
Zbigniew Cybulski comes across as a cross between Delon and Belmondo as the somewhat reluctant assassin in this polish postwar noir-feast. The hardboiled bits, borrowed from The Asphalt Jungle they say, works great alongside the political satire and symbolism.
Meticulously framed scenes, each one a work of art really.
