Jack nicholson is on top form as Melvin Udall in this comedy he also won the 1997 oscar for best actor his second the other being 1975's one flew over the cuckoo's nest. He also won best suppoting actor for 1983's Terms of endearment which was also directed by James l brooks.
This oscar win makes jack nicholson the leading male actor with 3 wins.
