Review of As Good as It Gets (1997) by Guilherme B — 03 Aug 2012
Fantastic. Its movies like this that restore my faith in movies after seeing too many bad ones. Wonderfully acted. Interesting characters that go through real growth through each other. What makes this movie special (at least to me) is that it goes a step further than most films and digs into the harsh reality of these people's situations that most films would blow right over.
I mean scenes like Carol crying trying to write a thank you note and realizing now that she doesn't have to worry about her son, she's trying to make sense of her life being able to be normal again and how it hasn't been for so long.
Moments like that are like a "wow" punch in the face. Its a touching and humorous movie that doesn't have to try too hard and is well-grounded. P.S. Harold Ramis is adorable and the scenes with him made me cry.
