The acting in this movie is absolutely amazing. However, even the best acting in the world cannot make up for the glacial pacing, unrealistic dialogue, direction that flips between subtle and ridiculous seemingly at random, and very clumsy attempts to make ultimately one-dimensional characters more interesting.
Nicholson and Hunt both thoroughly deserved their Oscars, but overall, As Good As It Gets is not good at all.
