Review of As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me (2001) by Ben U — 19 Nov 2007
A solid survival adventure film based on true events about a German POW escaping from Siberia. The movie got off on a bit of a generic, and rather rushed beat (although the international version on DVD appears to be cut), but once our hero is on the long road home the film becomes pretty engaging as he traverses across thousands of miles and through several cultures.
The film itself isn't particularly great in terms of suspense or emotion, though the performances are solid, but the story is quite incredible on its own terms.
The production logistics of this one are pretty impressive though; some spectacular location work and cinematography make it recommended to fans of classic survival tales.
