Review of As Above, So Below (2014) by Steven M — 24 Dec 2014
The movie wants to be a low-budget, horror-lite Indiana Jones, and it partially succeeds. The film's biggest flaw is it's over-reliance on cheap found footage tropes. This isn't a criticism of the film's found-footage nature in general (which is generally well executed enough that you tend to forget you are watching a found-footage film), but of the film's reliance on the specific brand of goofy, predictable found-footage jump scares and tired camera tricks.
This could have been a really good movie... instead, it's just sort of forgettable.
