Review of Arthur Christmas (2011) by Jacob D — 22 Aug 2012
Aardman is one of my favorite companies. They always have a way to make perfect wit and smart funny humor for families, without falling back on fart jokes and slapstick. Arthur is the same. It's about the Clause family, which seems to be a family that, while their job is Christmas, they've kind of lost faith in it.
They still do it and do it well, but when one present is left behind, Arthur makes it his mission to get it to the child that it belongs to. Humor ensues. But one of the most appealing facts of Arthur Christmas is the fact that it's not a normal christmas movie.
Without the Christmas coverings, it could be a heist movie or an 'Incredible Journey' flick. It's mainly the way each member of the family gets in on the chase that makes the film enjoyable.
It's not Wallace and Gromit, it's not Flushed Away or Chicken Run, or even Aardman's other 2012 flick, Pirates: Band of Misfits. Arthur is more heartwarming then any of Aardman's other flicks and that's why it's so enjoyable.
And it's an especially good present under the 2012 movie tree. 4.8/5.
