Review of Arthur (2011) by Ceph J — 29 Aug 2011
"Arthur" pales in comparison to the 1981 original which gave Dudley Moore his signature role and earned wonderful Sir John Gielgud a supporting actor. Russell Brand is ok as Arthur, he's like a the son of Dudley Moore. Mirren is miscast as the nanny; why does he have a nanny, you'd think he'd have a BFF to hangout with. Jennifer Garner plays her role as a caricature and Greta Gerwig is actually boring, does anyone care who Arthur ends up with.
Movie doesn't make sense especially with Arthur wasting $$$. It's also incredulous about a marriage of convenience in this era. The orinigal was fun with the casting of Moore and Gielgud. This remake only reinforces the Democrat's assertions that the rich should pay more taxes.
