Review of Arthur (2011) by Jason S — 09 Jan 2012
Russell Brand was note-perfect in the title role, and his chemistry with Helen Mirren was so good it deserved a better movie. Unfortunately, Greta Gerwig was horribly miscast in the Liza Manelli role. Somewhere, there's a mobile phone commercial that had to use another from a collection of generic, quirky blondes.
Was Zoey Daschenale's price too high? And kudos to whoever cast Jennifer Garner, one of America's sweetest screen icons, as a corporate ice princess. That bit of casting against type should warn against misuing Garner in the future.
Altogether a crap movie that had a couple of ponies hiding in plain, if obstructed, sight.
