While Brand and Mirren are the only ones actually bothering to act in this movie, they still manage to hold a bit of it together and pull it off--as long as you can ignore the terrible acting of everyone else in the film.

There is some semblance of working chemistry between the two in the more mother-son scenes that do come across well and heartfelt.
