Review of Arthur (2011) by Vincent C — 07 Sep 2011

The biggest problem with this movie is that it is a pointless remake. There is nothing in this remake that justifies it being made. However, it's not completely terrible and it is certainly watchable.

But, to be honest, I don't think I will willingly watch this again. I happen to like Russell Brand, but this role isn't for him. He is more capable than this and he has proven it in his previous movies like "Get Him to the Greek".

Greta Gerwig is very cute and while she isn't necessarily misused here she deserves to be in better movies. I guess the best thing about the movie is that it didn't seem to run on too long even though it's nearly two hours long.

There are a few laughs to be had, but not much more. "Arthur" is a hollow remake that completely throws away it's decent cast and does absolutely nothing with it.
