Review of Arthur (2011) by Scott N — 25 May 2012
Amazingly Russell Brand is not the most annoying part of this film, instead it is the complete miscasting of nearly every character. For example, we are suppose to believe that Arthur would give up his entire fortune for Greta Gerwig yet the two have absolutely no chemistry together and the script give us no reason to care about her character at all.
Honestly, there are so many other actresses who could have played the part, I even thought Katey Perry would have been great in the role, but were stuck with Gerwig. Also, if I were forced to marry Jennifer Garner I wouldn't put up a fight to say the least, thus she too is miscast.
Overall this is a poor remake that disposes of everything the made the original a classic worthy of a remake. I'm starting to think Russell should just back go England.
