Review of Art School Confidential (2006) by Zurn Z — 11 Jan 2008
This movie started out awesome. It was witty, entertaining, and I could completely sympathize with the main character. That was the first act. The second act had to get all serious and add this stupid plot line of a murderer and the main character's obsession with the female lead made me lose all interest in him, not to mention took all the comedy away, which is what I thought the movie was from the very funny first half. The ending was completely ridiculous and left you feeling nothing for anybody.
However the acting was excellent. John Malkovich was amazing as always, and Steve Buscemi is good in anything. I just had a problem with Anjelica Huston, and that problem was that she was completely underused. I mean she was only in two five minute scenes, there was so much they could have done with her character.
