Review of Art School Confidential (2006) by Elaine M — 22 Jan 2009
From the director of 'Ghost World' and 'Bad Santa' comes another (although this time pretty unheard of) black comedy drama, following the proud art student Jerome, who dreams of becoming the greatest artist of his time.
The story is quite standstill, much like that of 'Ghost World', but this one doesn't really have enough substance to compensate for that. John Malkovich, Angelica Huston, and Sophia Myles are all faultless and totally watchable, there are enjoyable moments in the lot, and Zwigoff's bleak tone is hard not to warm to, but it's not his best work by a longshot.
