Review of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) by Kenneth D — 12 Jun 2008
Many have said that this is the greatest screwball comedy ever made, from the original director of screwball comedy, Frank Capra. I would agree with that assessment. This film leaves the the viewer in stitches.
..no question. It WILL make you laugh. Uproarious is the best way to describe it. From the crazy aunts, played by Jean Adair and the great character actress Josephine Hull, to the uncle who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, to the impeccable Peter Lorre, whose presence really puts the film over the top.
Definately watch!
