Review of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) by Andrea L — 09 Dec 2009
This is, and will more likely than not, always be my favorite movie. It mixes a very dark sense of humor, with elements of horror very well. And while the middle section when it gets really dark, might run a bit slow, it only gets better.
Cary Grant gives one of my favorite performances of his here. Typically you think of Mr. Grant as being the dashing leading male, here he is anything but. But! While the entire cast give steller performances, it's really John Alexander as Teddy that outright steals the show. Absolutely halarious.
Capra has always been a favorite director of mine, and whenever I ask myself why I like his work so much, I just watch this movie. It's a blast to watch.
