Review of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) by Kathleen D — 25 Apr 2010
I try really hard to like Cary Grant, but every time I see him in a comedy, I always end up disappointed and exhausted. His acting is just hard to keep up with. It's over-the-top and contrived, and maybe that was the intention of Capra for this film, but it didn't work for me.
I much prefer Cary Grant in serious roles like Suspicion. I did like the dark undertone of this comedy, and the "Boris" running joke was hilarious.
