Was anyone else worried that this film was going to be your typical alien invasion movie, where the safety of planet earth is in jeopardy for the 100th time? Well thankfully Denis Villeneuve had a different idea for the genre of alien science fiction invasion movies.

Arrival takes the idea of extraterrestrial life invading earth and puts a very realistic spin on it. This film explores how humans would try and communicate with aliens that do not speak our language.

I want to start by saying that everyone in this movie does a terrific job acting especially Amy Adams. However the star of the film might actually be Denis Villeneuve. This guy knows how to direct movies, and after Arrival he has now solidified himself as one of the best directors working today.

The cinematography in this film is mind blowing, every shot in this movie looks amazing. Not only does he direct this film to perfection, but he showcases a very intriguing story that had me on the edge of my seat for the entire run-time.

It is a film that trusts its audience has been paying attention to everything that is going on, and if you have been watching carefully you will be blown away by the ending of this film. This is an ending that makes you rethink everything you just watched and leaves you with questions, that upon second viewing will all be answered.

Arrival is a cinematic masterpiece that will be studied and pondered over for years to come!
