Good sci-fi slightly askews what we already know to be true. Good sci-fi does not need to violence, but understands its prevalence. Good sci-fi knows exactly when it's ok to be juvenile.
This movie hit on every mark for me. Seldom do you watch a movie with high expectations and come out the other end completely satisfied and Arrival did just that. I can't believe it took me this long to see it.
