Review of Arrival (2016) by D D — 30 Jul 2017
The movie tries to capture large, all-encompassing themes, however only delivers re-hashed premises oft-times visited in myriad sci-fi television episodes & film. Akin to mind-blowing speculation long ago postulated in 'Twilight Zone' & 'Outer Limits' television-series episodes (many of which were adapted from acclaimed short stories), 'Arrival' seems so full of its own grandeur, the plot & direction simply becomes a plodding & boring snooze.
This is in no way a landmark film, by script, special effects, or direction, however Ms. Adams' performance may be considered laudable.
