Review of Army of Darkness (1992) by Rob C — 09 Mar 2012
In the third installment to the Evil Dead series, we have Ash (Bruce Campbell) being sucked back into medievil times to recover the Book of the Dead. He somehow manages to mis-pronounce the words to recover the book and unleashes the army of darkness.
Unlike the first two films, Army Of Darkness is filled with a lot more one-liners and adds humor surpassing the previous. The gore is considerately weaker, but it works for the presentation of the film.
I still wish they could of somehow connected the ending of the last film to the beginning of this one. For instance, in Evil Dead 2 when Ash was sucked back into medievil times, he killed a demon which led the people to follow him.
On this part, he was captured and had to prove his worth. But, at least it wasn't a complete change of plot like between the first two films. Bruce Campbell is an entertaining actor and I think Raimi should of expanded the series.
At least we have three great films out of the deal.
