Review of Army of Darkness (1992) by Stephen E — 27 Dec 2012
Sam Raimi isn't a great director and that's okay because at least he's not making the same ol' crap that we're used to seeing. At least, he didn't used to. "Army of Darkness" is a mess and isn't as funny, scary or memorable as the other films in the "Evil Dead" series, but it's great, energetic escapism.
It was a ballsy move to relocate Ash to the 14th century, and even if it doesn't totally work, I'm the kind of man that respects ambition and "Army of Darkness" has tons of that.
