Review of Army of Darkness (1992) by Rod E — 25 Sep 2014

Army of Darkness is a classic in my household and I love the Evil Deads but this was just too goofy for me and I didn't care for the time period. It came off as too Medieval Times with Ash. Now before anyone goes "Well the other two are pretty goofy.

There's all kinds of Three Stooges styled gags in there." Yeah that's true but they were more gruesome and the original is well done and effectively scary in its own right. Army of Darkness is one of those movies where I was too young to see it when it came out and couldn't wait for it to come out on video and when it did, I enjoyed it but it wasn't what I expected.

Army of Darkness is also a rare breed of having a distinction of me thinking its awesome while not really thinking its that great. There are cool moments for sure and it doesn't go by Evil Dead 3 for good reason.
