Review of Armored (2009) by Mike W — 18 Dec 2010
Armored is one of the most action-packed movies in a very long time. This is a must for your Blue-Ray collection. I only wish the movie would have been released in 3D. There were so many clever twists and subplots, and action packed scenes, I have watched this movie over and over and over again. And Lawrence Fishburne has reached the precipices of his acting career in this movie. He will no longer be remembered as the wise Morpheus of the Matrix Trilogy. But now as the determined bad armored car guard dude who ended his career with a facefull of exploding money, and a busted hand trying to painstakingly knock out the hinge pins of those god dang armored car doors (oops spoiler alert). Yes, we are all shocked he did not get any nominations for this fine piece of cinema art. I was so inspired by the movie that I gave up my career as an underwater archaeologist and moved inland all the way to Tennessee to attend the National Armored Truck Guard Academy. I tell my family I am a Federal employee because I don?t want to be prematurely targeted like the courageous driver Ty Hackett, and driven to the abandoned warehouse district and victimized by his veteran coworkers. (And props to Matt Dillon for fine acting skills and being tenacious to the bitter end) I sure hope I can earn my armored car guard badge and wear it proudly like the good guys in the movie and protect millions of dollars of money that will never be mine. Nonetheless, I will be trained and ready to fight back my buddies if they ever turn on me. And maybe they will make Armored 2 one day based on my future armed car guard stories.
