Review of Armored (2009) by Ryan K — 24 Aug 2010
Simply put, Nimród Antal's Armored builds up and then falls apart.Even though this film never reaches 90 minutes, the brief run time isn't short enough to stop the disappointment. The first 30 minutes do a decent enough job at setting up what is to come, while also providing some so-so development for a few of the characters; however, when the film arrives at the main course there just isn't enough flavor.
Everything becomes uninteresting as the film's setting becomes an abandoned factory. The action is minimal and unexciting and the suspense level is low, which also contributes to the blandness of the film.
Columbus Short is the main focus of the picture, but his performance is more along the lines of a supporting character, which is not a good thing for a lead. Matt Dillon is the one that actually takes the spotlight.
The rest of the cast put up acceptable performances, despite some deficiencies in the character buildup.Armored has the premise to be something good, but in the end it doesn't deliver.
