Review of Armored (2009) by Joel M — 31 Jan 2011
"Armored" 10 Scale Rating: 6.5 (Decent) ...
Completely mindless, but I was entertained. "Armored" doesn't revolutionize the heist genre, but it succeeds at being a decent time killer.
The story is one we've all seen before. A group of security officers plan to rob a bank truck that they are protecting. A new officer is assigned to their group and they befriend him in hopes that he will go along. While he is initially opposed, he decides to help them when a social worker threatens to take his younger brother away due to the environment he lives in. However, he will only help if the plan doesn't include hurting or killing anyone. Obviously, the plan goes awry and someone is killed ... otherwise there wouldn't be much of a movie. Heh.
The action is sufficiently intense for a movie like this and the characters are interesting and fun to watch. The main character locks himself in one of the armored trucks and refuses to come out for a good chunk of the movie. You'd think that would make it boring, but they were able to pull it off.
While the movie did nothing spectacular, I was entertained and enjoyed it. I suggest it to anyone who is bored and wants to watch a mindless little movie to kill time.
