Review of Arlington Road (1999) by Spyros T — 07 Dec 2012
Arlington Road has the virtue of being a film that you've probably never heard of and know even less about, both of which work in it's favour. It has a very unusual perspective on terrorism for a Hollywood film, and the ending is even more unusual and rare if you consider that this film was made years before 9/11.
I'm sure that, as thrill rides get ever more bloated, I'll appreciate it even more in the future. Robbins/Cusack are pretty frightening playing against type and the storyline is far-fetched but, vitally, it never seems unlikely or implausible.
The ending, which ingeniously ties in with almost everything that has gone before it, is unforgettable. It really caught me off guard, very gutsy. Badalamenti's score was kinda exciting also.
