Review of Argo (2012) by Jurga K — 18 Nov 2013
Most conflicts in the movie are so formulaic and artificial that I cannot believe how they slipped through 90% of the critics. Of course the CIA agent has to cockily introduce himself as the guy who's gonna save everybody, and of course the flight tickets have to get approved the last second by the President himself, and of course there's a screaming fight between two white dudes where one represents good and the other one evil, and of course the Iranian guards don't suspect anything when a Canadian filmmaker starts speaking perfect Persian, and of course the good guys escape the very last second.
.. Hold on, and why do the stranded diplomats are so hostile to the only guy who wants to save them? So much that he only deserves a stern handshake in a moment of joy? I could go through these cliches and inconsistencies forever.
What I don't understand is, where do the rave reviews come from?
