Review of Argo (2012) by Omar L — 01 Feb 2014
Ben Affleck has once again proven his expertise behind the camera as a skilled director of tension. He is able to coax subtleties out of performances that give each character humanity. I wish the same could be said about his own performance as Tony Mendez, which is so humorless as to be almost wooden.
Nevertheless, Argo is a good example of taking a story that could have been boring or trite and making it very interesting to watch. Yes, the personal life of Tony Mendez didn't need to be in the movie, but it wasn't exactly superfluous either.
