Review of Argo (2012) by Andrew M — 19 Jan 2015
I only have a cursory knowledge of this story based in the Iranian hostage crisis. I honestly have no idea how closely this follows what actually happened -- Hollywood ending aside, which is an obvious modification.
However, I really loved these characters and the entire setup. The characters are compelling, and I think it does credit to all the main people involved. The ending... well, it makes the Iranians look DUMB, and the diplomats and agent *almost* (but not quite) just lucky to get away instead of actually doing very well.
I'm not sure that did them a service, but overall I think it portrays the situation as well as if not better than we could expect from Hollywood.
