Review of Argo (2012) by Jorge M — 05 Jul 2016
In Ben Affleck's third directorial outing he continues to shine and impress as a filmmaker. As a story based on historical events, the film flourishes in so many different aspects. The cast is tremendous; with Affleck in the lead and supporting actors including the likes of Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman among others.
The script by Chris Terrio is undeniably stellar, propelling the story forth with tense thrills while interspersed with unexpectedly timely humor. The film was deservingly honored at the 85th Academy Awards, winning Best Picture and marking a redemptive comeback of sorts for Ben Affleck after his career had gone south following his Oscar win for Good Will Hunting in 1998.
Argo is masterful throughout and will probably stand the test of time as one of the better films of the early 21st century.
