Review of Argo (2012) by Stefan N — 09 Oct 2013
"Argo" brings us back to the 70's and the epitome of diplomatic problems with one of the best written and directed films of the year. The acting could have been better, but the point of this film is to tell a story and to do it well.
Affleck cements himself as a force to be reckoned with with realistic, and witty story-telling. Chris Terrio composes a script that is so perfect it risks becoming formulaic. It incorporates the comic relief duo played by John Goodman and Alan Arkin who add spice to the film.
Even the score is delightful. However, I was bothered by the narrow-mindedness of the film that becomes down right racism pounded by patriotism. "Argo" makes us wish for another collaboration between Affleck, Terrio, and Arkin as long as its not politically-motivated.
